Ribbing stitch
Standard ribbing hat
Folded ribbing hat
The ribbing stitch is composed of post stiches. It is very easy to do. It creates textured and ribbed fabric. It is mainly used as ribbing on garments or hats. Of course it can be used as the main stitch when creating a project. I use this stitch everytime I make a hat and for most of the ribbing on garments (alternatively, you can use relaxed ribbing stitch - please see Relaxed Ribbing stitch — Cosmic G Design)
Please see the diagram and written pattern below. For crochet in the round we use diagram A and for work in rows we use diagram B
The written pattern is in bot USA and UK terminology. UK is in bold.
Note that this pattern narrows the size of the fabric, it is a voluminous stitch which also means that it uses more yarn i.e. it is a yarn eatter.
