Velvet blanket stitch
We all know that working with velvet yarn can be challenging. We cannot quite see the stitches because of its voluminous nature and we do nit want to use a simple stitch such as dc/tc only.
I have created the velvet stitch, which is very simple and consist of 1 row repetition but provides a texture of the fabric which compliments the velvet yarn without making it even more voluminous.
The velvet stitch is recommended for crocheting blankets. However, it looks exceptional with vertiagated yarn or with stripes when creating scarfs, hats, blankets, ponchos. The velvet blanket stitch creates horisontal and diagonal ridges (similar to the Alpine stitch) which are not very prominent but noticable.
